Palacio de la Serna is a wonderful paradise. Eugenio Bermejo, the owner,
is a well known Spanish interior designer and painter, who retired early
from his interior design career to dedicate his time to panting, for
which he bought this XVIIIth century former military garrison and
transformed into a hotel, a very peculiar one... He lives on the
premises and runs the hotel Palacio de la Serna practically from his
studio which is in a way open to hotel guests. If you like to paint you
only have to say so and Eugenio will let you use his studio at no extra
charge, except for the cost of the materials. He even gives free
counseling!
Needless to say, Palacio de la Serna makes you feel the presence of this
artist in every corner of the house. The rooms, decorated by him of
course, are very different one from another, some you may love, and some
maybe not. He uses a lot of contrast, for example: very colorful walls,
iron works, antique furniture, you name it he is got it, even a dining
table sawn down the middle, one half used for the wash basin and the
other, set against a wall in the living room of the suite, with the TV
on it. Another emblem of Eugenio here is his cooking, he is in charge of
the kitchen and going with his personality, he does not follow any
recipes, he calls it the author’s cooking, every time something
different. |
